I removed the screws on the upper back of the phone ( total of 4 or 5 flat headed and 4 round headed ( the ones by the 3 switches for the ringer, loudness, etc) and carefully lifted it off because some wires will still be attached. This time, I placed a little piece of tape over the pin to hold it in it's place. Still works well and has good sound.
All I did was push the pin back and aligned it with the middle hole of the cradle arm and we were back like new. Took about 2 minutes to fix.and being a woman, if I can do it, anyone can. I guess the up and down motion of picking up and hanging up the receiver eventually works this pin loose to the point where it completely wiggles out of it's slot in the cradle mechanism.
I've owned this phone for 5 years now. This pin holds the spring and arm of the cradle together.
One problem that has happens ever couple of years is the cradle that holds the hand piece eventually becomes spongy and less springy, until one day, it wont spring back into the upright position anymore. When I looked inside to where the cradle goes into the body, I saw a silver "pin" about 1 1/2" long had worked its way loose.
I was so happy when I found it on Amazon. When we looked at the house i noticed this phone on the wall and loved it. I thought I wouldn't be able to find another since the previous owner of the house was taking hers.
Works well. Guest love it. Fools everyone. Great phone. Goes well in our 1870's B and B.
The quality of the finish is excellent as well as the sound of telephone is of high quality, both for sending and receiving I am very pleased with this country wall phone.
Instead, it has a digital ringer. The appearance of this phone is awesome. And the price was much cheaper than any other site I found. Still very happy with this product. Easy to install. The only problem is that I was hoping for an old fashioned ringer.
